Details We are conducting a study of memory and are looking for: - People who have previously been struck on the head and knocked out (e.g., playing sports, in an auto crash, or assault-type injury) for at least a minute or two. - Participants will be asked to complete a paper and pencil and computer-based memory task, which will take approximately one hour. - Participants will be renumerated $10 or an hour of student credit for time, travel and expenses.

Threatening vs. Non-threatening Images

Details You are invited to take part in a study looking at how people perceive some images as threatening vs non-threatening. If you choose to participate, you will be shown a range of face and animal images on a computer screen and then be asked to rate these images on how threatening they look. The task will take approximately 25mins and you will be reimbursed with half a credit point or $ 5 for your participation. At this stage we are looking for CAUCASIAN and ASIAN FEMALE participants only.

Simple short-term memory experiment (1 credit point)

Details This study will take around 45 minutes and you will earn 1 credit point for your participation. The aim of the study is to investigate how simple features of auditory stimulus such as pitch and location are represented in auditory short-term memory. If you would like to take part in the study, you will be asked to complete one simple computerized task in which you will be required to remember sequences of tones. Psychology experiment - half a credit point

Details You are invited to take part in two short experiments. The first experiment will examine the relationship between cognitive processing and personality traits. The second study will be pre-testing a questionnaire which measures vocabulary and verbal intelligence. The experiment will take approximately 15 - 20 minutes to complete and participants will receive half an experimental credit point. 3.5 points Alcohol, Marijuana and Ecstasy: Effects on Memory and Decision-making

Details We are seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who have English as their first language and consume alcohol, marijuna and/or ecstasy as well as individuals who abstain from these substances. We will ask you to complete a number of memory and decision making tasks and to complete a number of computerised questionnaires. Testing should take approximately 3 - 3.5 hours and we will give you 3.5 credit points or 35 dollars. All your responses are 100% confidential and anonymous. Testing takes place in the Memory and Decision-making lab on the ground floor of the main psychology building. The room is G28 and can be accessed from the courtyard.

Personality, Thinking Styles, and Eating Patterns

Details This study investigates personality, thinking styles, and eating patterns. During this study you will be asked to complete a number of tasks, including two questionnaires, an interview and two additional tasks that assess patterns of thinking. The questionnaires and semi-structured interview will involve a range of questions related to your pattern of eating, personality and your attitudes towards food, weight, and shape. It is expected that the study will take approximately one hour to complete. The two additional tasks are of a different nature. One is a paper based task, where you will be asked to draw a line between circles, containing numbers and letters, on a piece of paper in a dot to dot fashion. The second task is a computer based task, where you will be asked to sort cards along different dimensions.

Anorexia, Autistic-Like Traits and Information Processing Styles

Details 1 CREDIT POINT - get in quick! I am testing females aged between 17 and 26. The aim of this doctorate project is to look at how eating disorder symptoms, mild autistic-like traits, and different thinking styles among young adults are related which may contribute to improving eating disorder treatment outcomes. If you wish to participate, you will be asked to complete one brief semi-structured interview which will involve being asked questions about your eating patterns and two other short questionnaires. One will ask questions about your everyday preferences and behaviours, the other will ask about how you feel. You will also be asked to complete three brief tasks that require you to identify different shapes. Two of these tasks involve identifying shapes on a computer display. The third task requires you to locate simple figures from within larger more complex figures that are presented on cards. Height and weight will also be measured in a private and secure room. Testing should take up to 60 minutes to complete. All responses will be completely confidential. Testing will be done in the Vision lab on the 1st floor of the main psychology building in room 1.21.

Details This quick and easy experiment is worth 2 credit points. During the experiment you fill in 3 quick questionnaires, then complete a simple reaction time task. While this experiment is in no way anxiety provoking, by taking part in it however you will be helping advance research aimed at developing better treatments for anxiety.

Identifying Faces

Details This computer-based experiment was initially designed to be children-friendly so it's simple and fun! We are currently recruiting CAUCASIAN MALE participants only. Your job is to learn some friendly faces presented on the computer screen. Once you can recognise these faces, you will be asked to identify which of them have been helping to catch robbers! Participation consists of two sessions, each lasting around 20 minutes. These sessions must be completed on separate days and within about a week. On completion of the second session, you will be reimbursed with 1 course credit point. Please contact me if you are interested in taking part!

Details Air Traffic Control Task: 2 credit points. You will learn how to perform some of the jobs of an air traffic controller, such as directing aircraft and detecting aircraft conflicts. The experiment will take 2 hours and you will receive 2 credit points. Sessions will be available Wednesday 24th March and Thursday 25th March at 9.30am, 12noon, and 2.30pm.
